Ever feel like nothing goes right or that the team chemistry is lacking? Sometimes things just don’t feel normal or that your team isn’t playing to the ability that they can play. Every team will face this struggle throughout your career as a volleyball player. As a great athlete, you have to learn adapt to changes and difficult situations. That’s seriously the most important thing you’ll learn. The best thing you can do to unite your teammates is to perform actions that they will respond to. Whether it’s more a direct approach or a more calm approach, you will succeed. Now remember, this does take time. The change isn’t going to occur overnight. You have to be highly determined to change in the best interest of you and your team. Also, don’t ever over stress about this situation. Trying to force something can lead to greater conflicts. Just know your teammates are your greatest supporters and will always be there for you.
In some situations, those other teams get a lot better in just one year. This is why having a good work ethic is highly important. It’s not ok to start relaxing and getting lazy. Other teams will want to win more than you, but you can’t let it happen. Team chemistry peaks when everyone has a lot of confidence in each other. Confidence is earned by winning challenging matches. When you play with a team remember that it’s for them.
At this age, I feel like players get so wrapped up in college coaches that they forget the reason that they actually started playing. Personally, I started playing club when I was 12 and only because I absolutely loved it. Playing in college at that age was just an unimaginable dream and now, it’s becoming more realistic. When you go off to college, you’ll regret the moments that you missed with your teammates. It will be a while before you’ll see them again. The time to get good team chemistry is now because you’ll miss the amazing moments spent with them. Being able to cheer as much as you want after earning a point is the best feeling ever. Team chemistry makes everything comfortable and will improve if you really want it to.
I would like to dedicate this article to my club team, AVA 16 Rox. I absolutely love you all even if we are running into some bumps in the road. This is just temporary because I know we can overcome anything and everything if we work together. If any of all get the chance to read this, just remember these words and know that they’re honest and pure. We are a great team and we will fight through anything that they throw at us. We will have the heart and motivation to qualify and do great at Nationals. I’m proud of all of you, and I know that you all have bright futures ahead of you. Remember, who do you play for?
